Ivory Embassy's objectives
A scientific lens on science communication
Ivory Embassy wants to enhance science communication to an intentional, scientific, and collaborative field that contributes to public trust in science. Science communication—and the critical thinking that should accompany it—shapes how individuals and society engage with scientific knowledge. By strengthening its quality, we:
- At the individual level: Help communicators create purposeful, impactful, and engaging content that resonates with their target audiences.
- At the systemic level: Shift science communication from passive reporting and infotainment to a critical discipline—one that treats information with the same analytical rigor as a journal club, questioning and contextualizing scientific narratives with both curiosity and respect.
Science communication deserves to be taken seriously. My work focuses on helping individuals and organizations sharpen their communication skills, challenge surface-level narratives, and incentivize meaningful engagement with science.
coach, tutor, and content creator
Founder: Santiago Gisler
I founded Ivory Embassy to enhance the dissemination of science to the public and between scientists. The project focuses on helping individuals and society by emphasizing analytical, clear, and impactful science communication.
My name is Santiago Gisler. I am a science communicator and coach with a PhD in molecular genetics, specifically epigenetics, gene editing, cancer, and drug discovery. My interest in communication and its psychology took off toward the end of my research career, shaping my path today.
As a freelance science communicator and coach, I have spent years at the intersection of research and communication. I help researchers, companies, and organizations craft compelling, high-quality content that informs, engages, and stimulates individuals and society.
My unique blend of scientific expertise, communication, and psychology bridges the gap between complex, nuanced information and accessible, engaging content.
I have worked with institutions and companies across research, healthcare, and industry, including:
- European Medicines Agency (EMA)
- LUMICKS
- Genmab
- Merus
- Svar Life Science
- The Netherlands Cancer Institute (NKI-AvL)
- Amsterdam University Medical Center
- Atos Medical
- Bionews Services
- Teledyne DALSA
- The Spanish National Cancer Research Center (CNIO)
- Biomedical Center (BMC) at Lund University
Through Ivory Embassy, I help scientists, educators, and communicators improve their ability to share knowledge effectively with:
- Written content
- Presentations
- Digital content
My coaching and consulting help develop clear, impactful, strategic science communication that engages the audience.

Making the communication scientific
Building a new standard for science communication
With a background in scientific research and communication, Ivory Embassy’s goal is to elevate the standards of science communication.
Science thrives on collaboration and healthy skepticism. Apart from collaboration, scientific progress depends on the continuous questioning of methods, interpretations, and conclusions. Scientists engage in this thorough process through journal clubs, conferences, and peer-reviewed articles, challenging ideas, exposing flaws, and refining knowledge. Science stagnates without these vigilant yet collaborative voices.
Science communication should uphold the same spirit. It should go beyond simply reporting results or summarizing press releases. Instead, it should function like a journal club, an open, respectful, and analytical space where we dissect ideas and narratives with depth and integrity.
We contribute to this shift at both the individual and systemic levels by:
- Creating videos and articles that explore critical science communication and thinking.
- Coaching and tutoring aspiring and professional science communicators to develop exceptional skills.
- Hosting workshops and presentations to enhance communication skills—from foundational techniques to advanced strategies.
Through blog posts, videos, talks, and newsletters, Ivory Embassy helps communicators sharpen their skills, challenge narratives thoughtfully, and build a new generation of high-quality, well-rounded science communicators.

About you
Who's Ivory Embassy for?
01
Science communicators (aspiring or professional)
Science communicators at any stage strengthen their outreach and creative success by mastering the fundamentals: clarifying purpose, refining storytelling, structuring content effectively, and building credibility. Those wanting to progress further can develop critical communication—analyzing scientific narratives, questioning assumptions, and engaging audiences with deeper, more rigorous storytelling.
02
Scientists and researchers
Scientific communication has evolved beyond publishing in journals—we now expect scientists to not only excel in research but also create compelling content that engages both peers and the public. Striking this delicate balance strengthens careers, public trust in science, and society in general.
03
Science journalists
Science journalists investigate, analyze, and report on scientific developments with a critical, evidence-based approach. Go beyond infotainment to dig deeper into science analysis while developing skills in crafting clear and accurate narratives of scientific complexities to produce impactful stories. Critical communication and critical storytelling create trust and engagement with well-researched, thought-provoking, and authentic content.
04
Science educators
Teaching science requires a dedication to accurately dissect and convey complex scientific knowledge while maintaining engagement through pedagogy. We also want to develop students’ scientific thinking to approach information with a balance between curiosity and healthy skepticism. Science goes beyond biological pathways, chemical reactions, social systems, human behavior, or environmental factors. This approach builds a scientifically literate society capable of engaging in meaningful discussions about the world’s most pressing issues.
